Michelin Bib Mousse Off-Road Race Tire Tube - 21 Inch
PART PRICE:
$164.95 PART NUMBER: MIC-BM-01
Chosen by champions and virtually first to the finish everytime at such legendary races as the Baja 1000, the Michelin Bib Mousse Tire Tube is made from a multi-cellular butyl material that is specifically designed for off-road race competition and the need to overcome flat tires. Under high-speed race conditions, we recommend the Michelin Bib Mousse only be used on the front tire, as the spin of the rear tire generates too much heat and will reult to premature failure.
FITS: 90/90-21 and 80/100-21 Tires and 1.85 Rims
Bib-Mousse is designed for off-road racing Marked NHS (not for highway service), it should never be used on paved roads. Using Bib-Mousse with other brands of tires is also not advised.
Bib-Mousse should not be stored for long periods at temperatures higher than 30°C
The maximum useful life of a Bib-Mousse is six months from the date of installation on the motorcycle.
This period could be significantly reduced in cases of intensive use. For example, the useful life will be much shorter for motocross applications than in enduro use.
When new, Bib-Mousse simulates air pressure equivalent to 0.9 bar. This pressure will decrease gradually over the life of the product. Replace the Bib-Mousse when it becomes too soft for safe riding.
At the start of each ride, take care to bring the tire and Bib-Mousse up to operating temperature gradually.
When installing a previously used Bib-Mousse, you must re-lubricate it using only Michelin Bib Mousse Mounting Gel.
BIB-MOUSSE MOUNTING GEL
Each Bib-Mousse comes with a tube of mounting gel. When installing or reinstalling a Michelin Bib-Mousse, it must be lubricated using only Michelin Bib-Mousse Mounting Gel. Tubes of Michelin Bib-Mousse Mounting Gel are available from your Michelin dealer.
GENERAL INSTALLATION HINTS
LUBE - Installing the Michelin Bib Mousse can be quite the task. Lube the tube and inside of the tire with tire mounting lube or Michelin Mousse Lube, as this eases installation and decreases friction, which reduces heat and prolongs the longevity of the foam liner.
TIRE MOUNTING LUBRICANT
When installing off-road tires with or without Bib-Mousse, lubricate the tire beads with Michelin Bib'Up aerosol.
PREP RIM - Remove the rubber band around the rim and tape the rim, covering the spoke ends with quality duct tape. Tape all but one hole, since you will not need the valve stem for this application and the tape will help eliminate dirt and debris from entering the rim.
MOUNTING - Now let's get to the tough part of the operation. Since the tire, rim and insert are slippery, getting the first bead is difficult, but once you get it on, you must center it, keeping in mind the foam insert will force the bead from its seat, which will require tools and enginuity on your part. Making use of vice grips is recommended to keep the bead in place, but we must caution you not to damage any of the components, such as the tube, which could fail prematurely due to chaffing, pinching, and cuts just as a normal tube would.
LOCKDOWN - As you work your way around the rim, locking down the bead will be tough, especially the final section. Use your inner strength to achieve this. Once you've got it in place, if the beads are not locked down, you may use a quick blast of air into the valve stem hole to help push the bead against the rim and seat it.
