The Kawasaki KFX400 was the new breed of water-cooled four-strokes. Deriving it's engine from the Suzuki DRZ400 dual sport motorcycle, the entire KFX quad is merely an exact replica of the Suzuki LTZ400, featuring a 37mm CV-style carburetor backed by a throttle positioning sensor (TPS) that dramatically improved throttle response and increased top end power. It's chassis was equally effective and compared well in power and handling to the legendary TRX250R two-stroke, which is arguably one of the best ATVs ever built. The DRZ400 increased its usable power by the inclusion of a dual overhead cam (DOHC) and mating it to a nine-plate clutch. Back in the day, the KFX400 was a favorite.
