The Honda CT70 Trail debuted in 1969 and was popularly known as the Honda Trail 70. The fat-tired bike was virtually unbreakable, powered by a 72cc 4-stroke engine with either a 3-speed automatic clutch or a 4-speed with a manual clutch. Many outdoorsmen bought into the CT70 Trail for its reliability and kids simply because it was a fun bike. In fact, it was a first bike for many dirt bikers of the day. The Honda Trail went virtually unchanged through its production run from 1969 to 1982 with over 380,000 bikes sold.
