Veteran desert racers Rod Hall and Ron Bishop along with local Mexican businessman Nico Saad have been named as Grand Marshals for the upcoming 40th Annual Tecate SCORE Baja 1000, the granddaddy of all desert races. To be held Nov. 11-16, this year’s historic 40th anniversary odyssey of the world’s longest non-stop and most famous desert race will be a grueling and memorable 1,296-39 mile adventure down Mexico’s Baja California peninsula starting in Ensenada, Baja California and finishing in Cabo San Lucas, Baja California, Sur.

Heading into November's season-ending 40th Annual Tecate SCORE Baja
1000 in Mexico and following five of six races in the 2007 SCORE Desert
Series, 24 of SCORE's toughest drivers are still in the hunt to earn
2007 SCORE Toyota Milestone Awards. In addition, three of those racers
could split this year's $12,000 SCORE Toyota True Grit Awards.

presented by Toyota, is home to a special interactive display area dedicated
to the history and future of the world famous Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 desert
race, which takes place every November in Baja California, Mexico. As a part
of this special feature, race producer SCORE will unveil this year’s race
route live at the Off-Road Expo – a can’t miss feature for desert

Noted motorsport artist Eric Herrmann will present his finished
original painting honoring the legendary Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 desert
race during Thursday’s ’40 Years to Glory’ gala at the Long Beach
Performing Arts Center. The event is a tribute to the 40th Anniversary of the legendary Tecate
SCORE Baja 1000, the granddaddy of all desert races. The
once-in-a-lifetime ’40 Years to Glory’ gala will start at 5:30 p.m.
with a very unique silent auction to benefit the Off-Road Motorsports
Hall of Fame.

If Saturday's ‘live’ drawing for starting positions is any indication,
November's 40th Annual Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 desert race should be one
for the ages. Garron Cadiente in SCORE Trophy-Truck and Richard
Lancaster in Class 22 for open motorcycles drew the pole positions for
the legendary granddaddy of all desert races. This year’s odyssey of
nearly 1,300 miles will be a grueling and memorable adventure down
Mexico’s mysterious Baja California peninsula starting in Ensenada,
Baja California and finishing in Cabo San Lucas, Baja California, Sur.
It will be held Nov. 10-16.

‘veterans’ Mark Post and Rob MacCachren and young gun B.J. Baldwin, the
November showdown in Mexico will decide the overall and SCORE
Trophy-Truck point championships of the 2007 SCORE Desert Series. With
a single point separating the top two SCORE Trophy-Truck teams of 2007
the epic showdown will take place in mid-November at the history-making
40th Anniversary of the granddaddy of all desert races.
