Polaris began its legacy in 1954 with the introduction of its snowmobiles, which set the foundation for advanced engineering, which led to all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) in 1985. Shortly thereafter in 2005, Polaris manufactured its 2 millionth ATV. In 1992, the company begin its effort in the personal watercraft (PWC) market with a combination of power and comfort that was unmatched in the PWC industry. Then in 1997, Polaris introduced the next new rave, the Polaris RANGER, creating an entirely new class of off-road utility vehicles, the side-X-side or UTV as it is also known. The following year, in 1998, Polaris introduced Victory Motorcycles, the first all-new American-made motorcycle made by a major company in nearly 60 years. Four years later, Polaris and its Victory Motorcycle effort introduced the first factory custom-order program with its sleek Victory Vegas cruiser street bike.
